Summer Projects

Faculty Laptop Installs

  • Pre-Installation: (May 16 – 27)
    • Store laptops in C124 or C123 after Shipping has asset tagged them
    • Software
      • Demo or ask CETLA to show faculty how to backup and restore bookmarks
      • Faculty must submit a ticket to IT for additional software installations
    • Come up with some sort of scheduling webpage for time slots (Kate)
    • New laptop will be added into Sortly for inventory
    • Enable WoL(Wake on LAN) in the bios
    • Reimage all laptops with base image
      • Apply labels with first&last initial then asset tag to the computers (Example: RS_987432)
    • Place demo laptop image in CETLA for testing

 

  • Installation: (May 30 – June 17)
    • Pull faculty’s old devices
      • Desktops will come down to IT and be prepped for SSD and memory upgrade (Store in C124 or C123)
      • Old HDDs will be set aside to be wiped or shredded
      • Wide screen monitor can come down to IT, square monitors will be put on a pallet for recycle
    • Install faculty’s new laptop and hub monitor
      • Assist with any migration of bookmarks or additional software installs
    • Make sure we have a happy customer!!

 

  • Post Installation: (June 6 – 17)
    • Faculty’s old computer will be upgraded with 16GB of RAM and have an SSD/Mount installed
      • Computers will be distributed to CTC208, CTC209, Ottawa
        • Install new keyboards and mice
        • Cable management
      • Sortly will be updated with new location of faculty computers

 

 

A-Building & C-Building Desktop Installs

  • Pre-Installation: (June 20 – July 1)
    • Place demo base image in CETLA for testing
    • Store desktops w/ monitors in C124 or C123 after Shipping has asset tagged them
    • Software
      • Faculty must submit a ticket to IT for additional software installations in A classrooms
    • New desktops w/ monitors will be added into Sortly for inventory
    • Enable WoL(Wake on LAN) in the bios

 

  • Installation: (June 27 – July 8)
    • Pull old devices
      • Desktops will come down to IT and be prepped for HDD and asset tag removal then placed on a pallet (Store in C124 or C123)
      • Old HDDs will be set aside to be wiped or shredded
      • Wide screen monitor can come down to IT, square monitors will be put on a pallet for recycle
    • Install new devices with wide screen hub monitors (same screens as faculty offices)
      • Place all new desktop and hub monitors on the desks
      • Cable management
      • Replace keyboard and mice
    • Deploy base image via SmartDeploy

 

  • Post Installation: (July 8 – Aug 5)
    • Install any additional software in the labs (lan school, etc…)
    • Place computers in the correct OUs for GPO deployment
      • Printers, Malwarebytes, Patch Manager, etc…
    • Sortly will be updated with new location of desktop computers w/ monitors
    • Test computer functionality

 

Re-image All Other Devices

  • Lab Re-imaging: (July 8 – Aug 5)
    • Work with Gerilynn Schultz or Dawn Watson for blocking out classrooms for IT
    • Make sure SmartDeploy is installed on lab computers
      • Make notes of what software is install in the classroom currently
    • Re-image lab via SmartDeploy with the base image
    • Cable Management
    • Install additional software
    • Sortly will be updated with location of desktop computers w/ monitors

 

 

  • Staff Re-imaging: (July 8 – Aug 5)
    • Work with staff for scheduling the re-image
    • Make sure SmartDeploy is installed on employee computers
      • Make notes of what software is install currently
    • Re-image device via SmartDeploy with the base image
    • Cable Management
    • Install additional software
      • Restore bookmarks
    • Sortly will be updated with location of desktop computers w/ monitors
    • Make sure we have a happy customer!!
