Updating Dell Wireless Mouse and Keyboard

 

Below are instructions on checking for and completing updates for your Dell Wireless mouse and Keyboard. Please Note that these updates are separate from Microsoft and your computer manufacturer's Driver updates. Updates may be required if your Keyboard stops receiving input when pressing keys or if it randomly adds letters when you didn't type.

Updating Dell Mouse and Keyboard

 

  1. Click on the Start button (Windows Logo Icon) on the bottom left corner.

 

 

  1. Look for the Folder that says Dell or Dell Peripheral Manager

 

 

  1. Double click the Dell Peripheral Manager icon to open it.

 

  1. When it’s opening it will look like this

 

 

  1. In the upper right hand, it will say update. Click update.

 

 

  1. A pop-up box will appear saying Available updates. Make sure that the checkbox is selected and click update.

 

 

 

  1. It will then begin the update process usually it takes no longer than 10 minutes at most. Once the update starts it will look like this.

 

 

  1. Firmware Update Notes:

 

  • Do not disconnect the device or dongle during a firmware update.
  • Do not reboot, shut down, sleep, or hibernate the computer during a firmware update.
  • Do not connect more than one dongle for firmware updates.
  • Do not connect more than one device of the same model for firmware updates.
  • Firmware update of one device at a time is recommended.
  • The firmware update can take up to 10 minutes to complete, plug in the power and keep the device near the dongle during the firmware update to ensure a faster firmware update.
  • Ensure that the computer is connected to the Internet for a firmware update.

 

  1. Done. Your device has been updated and the screen will return back to the device screen.

 

 

Checking For Updates When the Update Icon Is Not Visible

 

  1. Follow steps  1-4 from above.

 

 

  1. Click the settings icon (Gear Icon) in the upper right-hand corner.

 

 

  1. Click Updates.

  1. Click Check for updates.

 

 

  1. If there is one available a pop-up box will appear saying Available updates. Make sure that the checkbox is selected and click update. If there are no updates continue to step 8.

 

 

  1. It will then begin the update process usually it takes no longer than 10 minutes at most. Once the update starts it will look like this.

 

 

  1. Done. Your device has been updated and the screen will return to the device screen.

 

 

  1. If there are no updates, you will get a message saying, “There are no available updates at this time.” You can then select close.
